The service
What is Evensong?
Evensong is the traditional late-afternoon service of the Anglican church. At St Paul's it is sung by the Cathedral Choir most weekdays and on Sundays, and it is one of the finest free choral concerts in London.
The service lasts around 45 minutes and includes psalms, readings, canticles and an anthem. You do not need to be religious to attend; many visitors come simply to hear the choir in the extraordinary acoustics of the nave.

Before you go
Four things to know
It is free
There is no ticket for Evensong. Seats are unreserved and open to everyone, regardless of faith.
Arrive early
Doors open around 30 minutes before the service. The Quire fills quickly on weekdays and especially on Sundays.
No sightseeing
Attending a service does not include sightseeing access. If you want to tour the cathedral, book a separate sightseeing ticket.
Dress and behaviour
Smart-casual dress is fine. Please sit quietly, silence phones and do not take photographs during worship.
Sightseeing
If you also want to tour the cathedral
Evensong and sightseeing use different entrances and tickets. If you plan to climb the dome or see the crypt, book a standard sightseeing ticket for earlier in the day and return for the service in the evening.
